The EU Settlement Scheme
Background
The Equality and Social Justice Committee was established in June 2021 - the same month as the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) application deadline. The Committee has monitored the EUSS’s operation in Wales publishing eight monitoring reports two annual reports and a final report of the work thought the Sixth Senedd.
The Committee explored the following issues with key stakeholders:

>>>the development and evolution of the EU Settlement Scheme;
>>>the Committee’s findings from its monitoring reports and annual reports;
>>>any persistent or emerging issues experienced by European citizens in Wales;
>>>changes to the EUSS and their implications;
>>>support provided by the UK and Welsh governments.

Final Report
The Committee published it’s final report on the EU Settlement Scheme, Settled but not safe? EU citizens who stayed after Brexit, on 25 November 2025. The report presents the Committee’s findings from its work in the Sixth Senedd.
A sentence in the report was incorrect and has been removed. The amended version of the report was re published on 7 January 2026
The Welsh Governments response was received on 21 January 2026

The Welsh Government’s response was received in June 2024
A plenary debate was held on 6 November 2024
2022
The first annual report EU Settlement Scheme in Wales was laid on 25 July 2022.
The Committee received a response from the Welsh Government on 17 August 2022
