The Committee considered the petition and noted the situation has evolved since the petition was submitted, and continues to develop. There are exciting plans in prospect for the sector with the Bus Bill due later this year.

 

In light of the ongoing work on Busses, Members agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner.

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write to the Older People's Commissioner and Age Cymru to seek their views on the petition.

 

Additionally Members agreed to write to Carolyn Thomas MS to ask her thoughts on the petition and whether she would be able to assist the Committee with her knowledge on the issue.

Jack Sargeant MS declared the following relevant interest under Standing Order 17.24A:

 

He is a member of Unite the Union and has received many e-mails and letters from people signing their campaign.

 

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write back to the Deputy Minister for Climate Change to:

 

  • ask whether a financial solution has been secured for the remainder of the year as noted in May statement, and
  • answer the specific questions raised by the petitioner.
