Notes the Report of the Communities, Equality and Local Government Committee: The provision of affordable housing in Wales which was laid in the Table Office on 23 April 2012.

Note: The response of the Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage to the report was laid in the Table Office on 13 June 2012.

The motion was agreed in accordance with Standing Order 12.36.

4.1 Subject to a few amendments, the Committee agreed the report.

5.1 The Committee considered the key themes and noted that the draft report will be considered at a forthcoming Committee meeting.

The Home Builders Federation agreed to provide a note on the following:

Their view on what they would like included in the forthcoming Housing Bill;

An update on the issue of the availability of land which has planning permission but isn’t currently being used to build homes on; and

A note on the work being carried out in mid and north wales on the delivery of affordable housing, especially within the strategic re-generation area of north wales.

Examples of Housing Associations who are working in partnership with Local Authorities to bring empty private sector homes back into use, and the resources being used for this purpose.

Figures from the Welsh Economic Research Unit on the impact of regeneration and the amount of brownfield sites that have been brought into use.
