The
Committee considered correspondence on the petition for the first time and
agreed to write to the Minister asking her:

to comment on
the further views from the petitioner;
·
for more
information on the review, including what the timeframe is likely to be, how
the work will be carried out, and what organisations will be contacted;
·
to comment on
whether powers under section 12 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 can be used to
implement prohibition, if the evidence of the independent review on use of wild
animals in circuses points to the need for it; and
·
whether she
believes that primary legislation would be needed.
